Pirzada Abdul Hameed was the 1st son of Pirzada Ghulam Qadir Asar from his second wife (Mehboob Begum). His wife’s name was Meraj Begum (1898 – 1964 – daughter of Hakeem Nazeer Ahmad Qureshi). He was blessed with three daughters (Waheeda, Fehmida and Asifa) and three sons (Waheed, Saeed and Moeed).

The detail about all of them (3 sons & 3 daughters) will be presented in upcoming pages.

Aligarh College Factor;

As we all know that Quaid-e-Azam, the greatest leader of the Sub-Continent, brought a new life in the divided and dis heartened Muslims of the sub-continent. In the same scenario, Aligarh College played a great and important role in character building of the young Muslim Students.

One young man from Jalandhar, Pirzada Abdul Hameed, also entered the field of politics in India. He was a graduate from Aligarh College and his heart was filled with the fire of ambitions and enthusiasm to win freedom for the Muslims of the Sub-continent.

Joining Politics;

He started his political career with the commencement of “Khilafat Movement”, that was an important milestone of bringing political awareness among the Muslims of the Sub-continent. Despite its failure,”Khilafat Movement”, had played great job in accelerating the Freedom Movement across India.

Pirzada Abdul Hameed started his political activities from Ghaziabad (UP).  He was elected as General Secretary of “Merith Committee”. As per instructions of his father, he returned back to jalandhar with one of his close friend “Muhammad Ali Aazar”. Aazar was also a member of the team who used to organize “Weekly Tarhi Mushaera” in Jalandhar.

Role in Literary Activities – India;

“Weekly Tarhi Mushaera” became a popular event of Jalandhar and the most prominent poets including; Abul Asar Hafeez Jalandhari, Rasa Jalandhari and Aish Feerozpuri cherished to attend it. Therefore, he founded a literary organization “Bazm-e-Girami” and held the post of “General Secretary”.

Founder of Seerat Committee;

He had great love for the religion “Islam” and the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), and to satisfy his religious thirst for serving Islam and the Prophet (PBUH) he founded a “Seerat Committee”. This Committee used to arrange different religious programs to raise Islamic sentiments and love for the Prophet (S.A.W) especially in young Muslims who used to bring their processions on the “Birth Anniversary of the Prophet – Jashn-e-Wiladat-e-Rasool PBUH.”.

The Kuffaar and the Anti-Muslim elements of the society tried hard to stop these processions, but Mr Justice Zakauddin (Session Judge) showed his determination by summoning that the procession would certainly be brought out and he himself would accompany the front line of the procession.

Joining All India Muslim League;

In 1935, on appeal of the “Quaid-e-Azam”, Pirzada Abdul Hameed formally joined “All India Muslim League’ the only political party of the Muslims in sub-continent and was also a fan of the “Quaid-e-Azam”. After joining the “All India Muslim League”; he devotedly started working to organize “Muslim League” in Jalandher. He made the Muslims (of Jalandhar) aware of the “Two Nation Theory of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan”, the Idealogy of “Allama Iqbal” for a separate state of Muslims of the Sub-Continent.

This devoted Day-Night struggle showed its bright results when in the Election of 1937 “Muslim League” candidate Malik Barkat Ali won the seat of assembly. He was the only Muslim who won on the ticket of “Muslim League” in the entire Punjab.  It was the result of his devotion and hard work for the Muslims that Pirzada Abdul Hameed was elected as “President” of the Jalandhar Branch of “All India Muslim League” in 1942.

He was also the president of the reception Committee for the historic meeting of “All India Muslim league Students Federation” that was held in Jalandhar in 1942. Quaide-e-Azam presided over that meeting and admired its arrangements and success in these words:

This meeting has increased my courage and age

Pirzada Abdul Hameed started a movement to create awareness in Muslims on the emergence of conspiracies in 1942, hatched to create religious and cast bigotry and was later joined by Maulana Zafar Ali Khan which emerged as more active movement.

He was also a prominent member of the “Educational Movement” of Sir Syed Ahmed khan, in Jalandhar and a Manager of the “Anjuman-e-Khadimaan-e-Islam” Jalandhar. This Anjuman established Islamia College Jalandhar, Do-Aabah High School and many primary schools.

A Strange Way of Creating Awareness About Pakistan;

Pirzada Abdul Hameed used to publish handbills on different topics like; “Why do we demand Pakistan?”, “Pakistan is a rope of unity in Islamic world” etc.   Students of Jalandhar would distribute these handbills in Rils at Jalandhar Railway station which was a junction for trains going to every direction of India. Later, this idea was adopted across the India.

In 1946 when “Cripps Mission” came down to India to resolve the matter for demand of freedom and creation of the Pakistan, The Congress to misguide the British representative and the Muslims of India, created false party “Momin Congress” a subsidiary of Congress. Momin congress was created to make British understand that “All India Muslim League” was not the only representative of the Muslims of the India.

A traitor ‘Zaheeruddin’ who was the president of ‘Momin Congress’, released a statement against the Muslims, on behalf of Congress, that twenty million members of Momins were with the Congress. To meet this challenge, Pirzada Abdul Hameed sent a telegram to the British Government through one of his companion Maulana Muhammad Ismail, Jalandhari; “We, the two Crore Members of Momin Congress have full faith on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and are ready to sacrifice our lives on his command” (President All India Momin Congress).

This telegram was presented to the House of Common in England when a member rose question asking whether Muslim league be given more importance or not. This on time action killed the conspiracy against the All India Muslim League, in the bud.

Migration to Pakistan;                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            According to his commitment, he was among the last group of Muslims that migrated from Jalandhar to Pakistan. In Pakistan, he was appointed as Custodian of Hindu’s Properties in Lahore. Afterwards he also spent some time in Rawalpindi but being an active Person, he could not adjust in still atmosphere of Rawalpindi and moved to Multan and acquired permanent residence there. He started practice of law again in Multan.
