Mian Ghulam Hasan : (15.02.1785 – 20.08.1860)
(Shrine in Basti Shaikh Darwesh, Jalandhar, India)

Mian Ghulam Hasan  (Barqandazi) son of Mian Muhammad Azam belonged to the family of Ansar Danishmand, Jalandhar and was “Devotee” & “Khalifa” of his father. He learned Astrology, Science of Ramal & Jafar from his father. He also acquired knowledge of medicine from his uncle Shaikh Muhammadee (RUA) and was a perfect Hakeem (Practitioner of Eastern- Medicine).

He used to keep busy in spiritual and religious exercises and meditation. He would frequently observe religious sittings of 10 and 40 days (Chilla Kashi). He would strictly offer Namaz on time and observe the social etiquettes with traditional norms. He also paid off the Zakat of His family members from his pocket.

He did not have any son or daughter. On the other hand, the youth of the family were so young to be appointed as Khalifa. Therefore, he designated his Khilafat to Saaeen Sher Shah Qadri  (1826 – 1884 AD – Sultanpura, Lahore), his one of the dearest devotees who afterward became successor to Mian Ghulam Hasan. The nephew, Ghulam Qadir was born in 1856 and he was just 4 years old when Mian Ghulam Hasan died.

Once, his devotee Saaeen Sher Shah asked about “Muqaddad-e-Amkana” and “Tajaddad-e- Amsaal” (transformation of being), Mian Ghulam Hasan asked him if he really wanted to know. Then he gave him some flowers and told to lay them on the grave of moulvi Muhammad Azam, Qazi Muhammad Ali Sabzwari and Khaanqaah of Mian Abdul Ghafoor. It was afternoon of hot summer season. He asked Saaeen Sher Shah to lock his room from outside as he laid in his bed. Sher Shah locked the door as he was told.

When Saaeen Sher Shah visited all the three shrines as he was told, he was surprised to see that his Murshad was present on all the three shrines. But when he came back and unlocked the door of his room, Mian Ghulam Hasan was sleeping therein.

Once, Mian Ghulam Hasan  visited the town of “Parjiyal Khwad” on the invitation of “Jani Baafandah”. He cooked one chicken and two Kg of flour.    At lunch about 40- to 50 guests were present. The host became worried, how to manage the feast for so many people. Mian sahib noticed the situation and spread his handkerchief on the dish and started serving food to the guests himself. All the guests ate to their fill and still there was enough food for the family of the host.

He had many devotees. Names of 22 of them are mentioned on Page 102, Part 6 of “Sharif-ut-Tawaareekh” (volume 3).

Ma’addah-e-Taareekh:

  • 1277 Hijra / “Farishta-e-Aali Maqaam” (A high rank angel)
  • 1277 Hijra / “Zain Khanqaah-e-Jannat” (Decoration of Paradise)
