Abdul Rehman Jami |
In view of the famous historic migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Macca to Madina in 622 AD, two tribes mentioned below, were declared to be the helpers (Ansaars in Arabic) of Muslims:
The companion Abu Ayub Ansari achieved historic fame for having been divinely chosen as the host of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upon his arrival in Madina and it was narrated through multiple counts that the she-camel was divinely instructed to choose Abu Ayub’s house as the host for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Madina where he spent a few blessed days prior to initiating interfaith political consolidation with Arabian Jews and Semitic Christians of Madina.
Specifically, Abu Ayub Ansari belonged to the sub-clan of Banu Najjar which was component of Khizraj tribe. His 11th century grandson Abdullah Ansari also known by the religious title of Saint of Hirat was a personality of immense religious significance and contributed greatly to the literary foundation of Islamic literature in Afghanistan. Al-Ta’abi is the first recorded ancestor of Abdullah Ansari in seeking preference to visit and later settle in the Hirat Province of modern-day Afghanistan, where he expanded his progeny and established his familial base.
This did not prove to be the permanent and Shaikh Ahmed Ghous, one of his direct descendants of Abdullah Ansari took his familial compound and moved to Lahore in 1555 AD under the patronage and accompaniment of Moghal King Humayun in capacity of his religious and scholarly aides helping the Emperor in establishing the Islamic court systems for Indian subcontinent.
The family of this religious scholar being direct successors of the grandson of Abu Ayub Ansari inherited appreciable amounts of religious, poetic and spiritual publications one of which was the above entitled, (Deewan-e-Jami) poetic compilations of the 15th century poet Abdur Rehman Jami from Persian peninsula.
In 1618 around 63 years later, the family assumed another migration shift from Lahore to Jalandhar where they settled till partition was finalized. The approximate residence period is calculated to have been around 400 years until the British evacuation from Indian subcontinent.
Reference publications and a family tradition prove the existence of a library containing hundreds of precious books of literary and occult significance in Persian, Urdu and Arabic totaling to an approximate 1500. This library was on display prior to partition at the family mansion in Basti Shaikh Darwesh of Jalandhar,India.
Majority of the library was usurped by Hindu and Sikh militants upon partition and most was left unattended and could not be claimed due to violent bloodshed reigning in urban Punjab.
This poetic compilation of Saint Jami is one of the very few and perhaps the only original published handcrafted copies of his works and is available in hardback for display and further enquiries can be made through the contact details hither to. This book contains arabic inscriptions with gold ink and has been rated worthy of archeological and historic significance and commands attention of the specialists.
